ANTIBIOTIC CREAM

COMPOSITION

One gram of Drugent^® Cream (0.35%) contains 3.5mg Gentamicin in the form of Gentamicin Sulphate.

ACTION

Gentamicin is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group with a broad spectrum of action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Microorganisms susceptible to Gentamicin include P. aeruginosa, the group Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, E.coli, Strains of Proteus.

INDICATIONS

Local treatment of acute topical infections of the skin; furunculi, burns, ulcers, infected wounds, abscess, impetigo, intertrigo, secondary infected eczema, as well as the prevention of infections.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Drugent^® Cream is thinly applied to the affected parts and rubbed in two to three times daily.

HYPERSENSITIVITY

Hypersensitivity to Gentamicin or other aminoglycosides.

SIDE EFFECTS

Gentamicin in Drugent^® Cream is well tolerated upon topical applications. However, hypersensitivity reactions to Gentamicin may occur after local use and cross sensitivity between aminoglycosides may occur. Irritation of skin, erythema and itching may also occur.
